The question

A coastal path and a pumping station sit close to the edge. How much room is left, and how quickly does it change?

Approach

Thirty cross-sections were set perpendicular to the cliff edge and re-measured each quarter with the same equipment and the same crew pairing.

What we found

Loss came in a few events rather than as a steady creep. Most of the recession followed periods of heavy rain, not storm tides.

Limits

Four quarters show an event pattern, not a rate. We advise against quoting a single metres-per-year figure.
